Before co-forming IPS Law, Paul spent a number of years working for a top European Commercial law firm, where he specialised in Commercial law and Sports law.

Paul advises Premiership football clubs, a number of high profile international Premiership footballers and leading sports and media agents. Paul specialises in sponsorship and endorsement deals, intellectual property contracts and sports dispute resolution.

Paul’s notable recent experience includes:

  • Advising Premiership football clubs on intellectual property contracts, player transfers and contract renegotiations, delivering benefit to both sporting individuals and the clubs for which they play;
  • Advising on the Michael Ballack and Andriy Shevchenko transfers;
  • Advising 4 of the current England international football squad in relation to major boot and sportswear endorsement deals;
  • Advising Phil “The Power” Taylor in relation to several endorsement deals;
  • Advising a leading Premiership international goalkeeper in relation to a major vehicle endorsement deal;
  • Advising a member of England’s world cup squad and his partner in relation to defamatory articles published in several of the leading “celebrity lifestyle” magazines; Advising a leading Ryder Cup golfer in relation to various tournament participation agreements, as well as major sponsorship deals and a course design agreement;
  • Advising a number of football agents in relation to disputes over unpaid fees;
  • Advising ex-Premiership footballers in relation to disputes with their insurers following career ending injuries;
  • Advising a leading Premiership Football Club on the licensing and distribution of match day footage and media content for use outside of the UK.

Paul has also provided legal analysis on football related issues for Sky Sports News and Granada Reports, and has contributed articles to World Sports Law Reports, Sport Business and various other publications.
