
Phil joined IPS Law in November 2006 after specialising in Intellectual Property at a national law firm.
Phil assists in advising a number of Premiership football clubs, high profile international Premiership footballers, leading sports and media agents, and sporting and media personalities.
Phil’s notable recent experience includes:
- Advising a number of Premiership football clubs on intellectual property contracts, player transfers and contract renegotiations, delivering benefit to both sporting individuals and the clubs for which they play;
- Advising a Premiership Football Club in relation to intellectual property infringement matters;
- Advising two England international footballers on major boot and sportswear sponsorship deals;
- Advising a leading Ryder Cup golfer in relation to various tournament participation agreements and endorsement agreements;
- Advising a well known entertainer in relation to the formation of a production company and the licensing and exploitation of broadcast rights;
- Advising an ex-world heavyweight boxing champion in relation to an endorsement agreement;
- Advising a leading football agent in relation to claims against several national newspapers for defamation;
- Advising two leading
football agents in relation to a claim against a player for non-payment of agent’s fees.
- Advising a well known
entertainer in relation to a number of endorsement and presenter
agreements.
Phil has also lectured on sporting legal matters, including the relationship between player and agent, at the FIFA Master Class 2007 in Switzerland.
